All About Our Magnesium Lotions
(This mineral-rich, stellar lotion was named after a phrase that was coined by my friend Morley Robbins - also known as "Magnesium Man". Morley is a mineral specialist and he has helped countless thousands of people learn about the value of minerals - especially "Maggie" (magnesium) and how to help heal ailing bodies. This lotion is dedicated to his selfless work and his oft' repeated phrase, "Everybody needs MO' MAGGIE!" (and then the phrase was repeated when we formulated "Lil' Mo' Maggie".)
Don't We Get Magnesium From Our Food?
A high percentage of our population is very deficient in a crucial mineral - Magnesium! This sounds crazy - don't we get magnesium from our food? Sadly, we get very little. But why? It's because our soils have been stripped to death or close to it at best from overuse, agriculture, and pesticides. Farms tend to plant the same crops year after year and never let the soil rest, either. They use powerful pesticides. These and other practices strip the soils from crucial minerals. Farmers only add a couple of minerals to the soil, in the smallest amounts they can just so a plant can actually grow in the otherwise dead soil. This is a very serious problem that the majority of the public is unaware of. Magnesium is also lost in huge quantities from stress. This stress is not only in the form you would generally think of. It comes from bodily stress created by air pollution, water pollution, pesticides, additives in body products, mineral imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, very poor nutrition, too much exercise, not enough exercise, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and so much more! Even "good" stress can cause magnesium loss. Magnesium is burned in very large amounts when we encounter stress.
What's So Great About Magnesium?
Magnesium is one of the most crucial minerals for our bodies. We would die without it. Magnesium is used in over 3,700 functions in the body! VITAL functions! Many diseases and disorders can be mistakenly misdiagnosed and are really symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Some of the most common symptoms of low magnesium are:
- Anxiety and/or panic
- Irregular heartbeat
- Premature or fast heartbeat
- "Restless Legs"
- Coronary Spasms
- Impaired memory and cognitive function
- Anorexia or loss of appetite
- Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar)
- Nausea and vomiting
- Difficulty swallowing
- Hyperactive reflexes
- Muscle cramps
- Behavioral problems of all kinds
- Muscle spasms
- Calcium deficiency
- Increased intracellular calcium
- Potassium Deficiency
- Impaired muscle coordination
- Involuntary eye movements and vertigo
But I feel Fine - I Can't Be Deficient!
Sadly, a lot of magnesium deficiency can sometimes seem non-existent until the deficiency is severe and then very uncomfortable symptoms can start to surface - or worse. A very extreme example would be a seemingly healthy marathon runner who suddenly drops dead. This can happen with a magnesium deficiency. Your heart health depends upon Magnesium! And remember, taking an over the counter Magnesium Pill has to be looked into very carefully. You have to find the most absorbable type and research how well it gets into your system if you take it orally.
How Can I find Out if I am Magnesium Deficient?
The most common way that doctors look for a magnesium deficiency is by taking a blood tests. However, one thing to remember is this blood test only measures what is floating around in your blood. You want to find out what is actually in your cells. The best test to do this is called an "RBC Magnesium" test. RBC stands for "Red Blood Cell". The test will determine how much magnesium is actually getting into your cells where it's needed. If your doctor won't do this type of test, you can order it yourself. There are multiple online labs that are very reputable and effective. Our family uses this lab: http://www.mymedlab.com but there are many others to choose from.
Our best way to determine our *overall* mineral status is by getting an "HTMA" (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis). Many doctos have balked at this type of testing but they aren't trained to use it, and many doctors don't research it. Today's medical system relies heavily on pharmaceuticals. An HTMA shows what your minerals are at a cellular level and also tests for heavy metals. It is a fantstic, and extremely valuable test! It's super easy to do, too. Each practitioner below also gives a free phone consult where they explain your HTMA results in detail and offer help in finding a perfect solution to balance your minerals for optimal health. There are several places online that you can order an HTMA test but these two places have been very reliable and trustworthy.

There are other practioners out there, but these are two that I have used in the past.
What Is "Transdermal" Use of Magnesium?
Transdermal means "through the skin". Using Magnesium lotion to get extra Magnesium is a highly effective and superior way to take this healthy mineral directly to your cells. When taken orally (through the mouth) a lot of the magnesium can be destroyed in the digestive tract. What's left can be poorly absorbed, especially Magnesium Oxide. Only about 4% of that form is absorbed, and that's in ideal conditions. Sadly, most over the counter cheaply made magnesium supplements are Magnesium Oxide. The public is being cheated! Each small teaspoon of our creamy and ORGANICALLY based Mo' Maggie lotion contains approximately 250 mg. of Magnesium Chloride (as well as many other trace minerals!). Magnesium Chloride is highly absorbable. This pure Magnesium doesn't come from dissolved flakes. We obtain our Magnesium right from the source - a rich, pure brine that's mined from the ancient underground Zechstein Seabed in The Netherlands. The mine is deep underground (two miles) and the seabed is over 200 million years old - untouched by pollution that might be found on the surface of the earth. Magnesium gathered from above ground ocean water has been found to be highly polluted. Not so with Zechstein Magnesium and Trace minerals.
We've formulated Mo' Maggie using our wonderful lotion base recipe, but added the magnesium brine to it as the main ingredient. We offer this excellent lotion at a much more affordable price than most Magnesium lotion found online, as well as a much higher dose of the magnesium. We haven't found a magnesium lotion yet with a higher 'dose' of magnesium in it. If you find one, please contact us. Our magnesium lotion is made with rich ORGANIC oils and butters, as well as infused organic herbs for extra benefits!
How Do I Use Mo' Maggie and Lil' Mo' Maggie?
Apply Mo' Maggie to any part of the skin, except the eyes and mucous membranes. Customers have reported great relief by applying Mo' Maggie on sore or aching muscles and joints. They also report relief from restless legs (a common symptom of magnesium deficiency), eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and fibromyalgia pain. ** We are only reporting customer feedback and make no claims on how you will personally respond to Mo' Maggie.
Lil' Mo' Maggie should be applied to the bottoms of the feet of your babies and children until you know what their sensitivity level is. Do not apply to mucous membranes or on their hands (applying to hands could mean they rub it in their eyes). Test other areas in small amounts to make sure no stinging occurs. Usually after continued use, sensitivity issues resolve if there was any to begin with.
Some mild tingling may occur upon application of Mo' Maggie - and on occasion a bit of stinging. This is normal and should disappear readily. The oils and butters in this lotion are designed to help lessen or even alleviate any possible tingling or stinging. This lotion will not feel like normal lotion on the skin because of the high Magnesium/trace mineral content. It may feel strange or even feel like there's a salty or 'strange' residue for some people. The lotion can be left on the skin, or rinsed off after 20-30 minutes after the minerals have absorbed. Many customers leave Mo' Maggie on all day and night - it's a personal choice (we leave ours on). Rinse hands after application to prevent rubbing it in your eyes. If you want a normal lotion for skin softening, please check out our "Mo' Soft" Hand & Body Lotion. In all the years we've been in business (Since 2001), we've got 100% positive reviews on our excellent lotion!
